Condition Guide

How we grade

We grade condition to make pre-owned shopping simple and transparent. Every item is inspected, cleaned, and assessed for lenses, frame, hinges, and alignment. Any visible wear is always disclosed on the product page.

Product condition labels

  • Preloved

    Gently used. Light signs of wear may be present, but overall appearance remains clean and well-kept.

  • Preowned / Defect

    Noticeable wear or a specific defect (e.g., deeper scratches, coating wear, small chips, looseness). The defect is always described clearly in the listing.

Grading scale

  • AB / Excellent

    Very light wear. Minor micro-scratches may be visible under strong light. Frame and hinges are solid.

  • B+ / Very Good

    Visible signs of use (e.g., light scratches or small marks). Fully wearable and functional.

  • B / Good

    Clear wear present (scratches/marks noticeable). Still functional, with details clearly listed.

What we assess

  • Lenses

    Scratches, coating wear, clarity in normal wear.

  • Frame

    Marks, discoloration, shape, overall finish.

  • Hinges & alignment

    Tightness, smooth opening/closing, fit on face.

  • Comfort & structure

    Stability and overall construction.

Common terms

  • Micro-scratches

    Fine hairline marks, usually only visible in direct light.

  • Coating wear

    Wear in the lens coating (fading/patches). Always disclosed when present.

  • Previous use evident

    Visible signs of use such as marks or scratches.

  • Odor

    We note if any noticeable odor is present
